What Is CowaLUNGa?

The Route

The CowaLUNGa route uses only well maintained roads, no bicycle trails — and has something for everybody.

The route has been expertly designed using safe, scenic roads with limited traffic. We've found just the right combination of flats and hills to challenge the newer rider and keep the experienced cyclist interested. And, the view from your saddle will certainly make the ride enjoyable. From the farms to the lakes and from the Kettle Moraine State Forest to the small country towns, there is plenty to see. Ride at your own pace — exploration along the route is encouraged. Shop the antique stores, enjoy the tastes of Wisconsin, and keep an eye out for those cows!

A queue sheet is provided daily to show the route for the day and any last minute
changes due unexpected road conditions, such as construction.

Optional Century Loop on Day 2!

Back again in 2010 - an optional century loop is available on day two.

The century loop travels some roads new to CowaLUNGa. The century loop will leave the LaGrange General Store (afternoon rest stop for day two) and make an easterly loop, circling back to the LaGrange General Store - which will serve as the ending rest stop of the loop. After completing the loop, riders will continue on the remainder of day two's route to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. And, of course, the loop will be patrolled by the same great SAG support teams as always!

Rules for participation in the Century Loop include but are not limited to:
