The CowaLUNGa route uses only well maintained roads, no bicycle trails — and has something for everybody. The route has been expertly designed using safe, scenic roads with limited traffic. We've found just the right combination of flats and hills to challenge the newer rider and keep the experienced cyclist interested. And, the view from your saddle will certainly make the ride enjoyable. From the farms to the lakes and from the Kettle Moraine State Forest to the small country towns, there is plenty to see. Ride at your own pace — exploration along the route is encouraged. Shop the antique stores, enjoy the tastes of Wisconsin, and keep an eye out for those cows!
A queue sheet is provided daily to show the route for the day and any last minute changes due unexpected road conditions such as construction.
NEW IN 2008 YEAR - Optional Century
Loops on Day 2!
Available for the first time in 2008, an optional century loop
is available starting at the end of the ride on day two. Those
interested in riding the century loop must sign up at Whitewater
check-in desk. After signing up, you will receive the Century Loop
Queue Sheet and a snack to send you off. The century loop travels
roads new to CowaLUNGa as the loop makes its way back to the
LaGrange General Store (afternoon rest stop for day two), which will
serve as the rest stop on the loop. The second half of the loop
travels the remainder of day two's route back to the University of
Wisconsin-Whitewater. And, of course, the loop will be patrolled by
the same great SAG support teams as always!
Rules for participation in the Century Loop include but are not limited to:
